Advocacy

In 2026, Growing Homes will organize farmers to advocate for their needs around housing. We will help develop campaigns that farmers lead. We will facilitate farmers' skill development, policy ideating, and facetime with legislators and agency staff, taking special care of all the logistical hurdles that otherwise get in the way of farmers' ability to do these things themselves. Emilyn Sosa will lead this effort through researching advocacy needs at the federal, state, county and municipal levels of government, draft proposed legislation, meet with farmers, legislators and advocacy groups to move efforts forward, carry out pre-identified needs and identify needs as they arise. Chris Nickell and Monti Lawson will be advisors to the work.
